This Privacy Policy explains how AERIALCONNECT LTD ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Vaelo mobile application and website (the "Service"). We are the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
AERIALCONNECT LTD is a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 16809439), with its registered office at 104a Chesterfield Road, Sheffield, S8 0RS, United Kingdom. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can contact us at any time at support@vaelo.life.
2. The data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account data — your name and email address when you create an account.
- Profile and goal data — the goals, tasks, routines, reflections, and life areas ("pillars") you choose to record in the app.
- Coaching content — the messages and information you share with the in-app AI coach so it can respond to you.
- Usage and device data — basic technical information such as device type, app version, and how you interact with features, used to operate and improve the Service.
- Payment data — when you subscribe, payment is processed by Apple, Google, or Stripe. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your card details.
3. Special category data
Some of the pillars Vaelo supports — for example Health & Fitness and Spirit — mean that information you choose to enter may relate to your health or your religious or philosophical beliefs. Under UK GDPR these are "special category" data. We only process this information where you have chosen to provide it, and we rely on your explicit consent to do so, solely to provide the personal-development features you have asked for. You can withdraw this consent at any time by removing the relevant content or deleting your account.
4. How and why we use your data
- To create and manage your account and provide the Service.
- To personalise your coaching, goals, and daily missions.
- To process and manage your subscription.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide support.
- To maintain the security of the Service and improve its features.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
5. Our lawful bases
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you sign up for); consent (for special category data and any optional communications); legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service, balanced against your rights); and legal obligation (where the law requires it).
6. AI processing
Vaelo's coaching features use AI services provided by Anthropic. When you interact with the coach, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. This content is processed to provide the feature and is not used by Anthropic to train its models. AI responses are generated automatically and may not always be accurate — see our Terms of Service for important limitations.
7. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the Service, under appropriate contracts:
- Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting.
- Anthropic — AI processing for coaching features.
- Stripe, Apple, and Google — subscription and payment processing.
- Other providers strictly necessary to operate, secure, or support the Service.
8. International transfers
Some of our providers are located outside the UK, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your data ("right to erasure");
- receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it.
You can exercise these rights in the app or by emailing support@vaelo.life. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure hosting. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and respond promptly to any issues.
12. Children
Vaelo is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. The "last updated" date above shows when this policy was last revised.
